MISSION 
MISSION
The development, purpose and commitment of the North Carolina and Virginia Essence Pageant System (NCVA) is to acknowledge potential, advocate and showcase respective platforms and reward achievement while promoting women of all ethnicity, backgrounds, and age groups throughout the States of North Carolina and Virginia. We are now offering the opportunity to women living, working, or attending school in the state of Maryland and the District of Columbia.
NCVA Essence Pageant System aims to provide opportunities to develop and enhance communication skills, both oral and written; performance capability; etiquette and leadership development; and encourage a healthy life style. The NCVA Essence Pageant System prides itself in offering an "experience" rather than solely a competition to emphasize the importance of building and maintaining life-long relationships.
In addition, NCVA Essence Pageant System provides funds to encourage women in the States of North Carolina and Virginia to pursue or continue their education and/or raise awareness about a specific platform initiative. We aim to achieve this mission through the production of the Official State Preliminary Competitions, by way of Local Title entities, in the areas of Miss TEEN Essence, Miss Essence, and Mrs. Essence for the States of North Carolina and Virginia.

NCVA Essence Pageant System nurtures women of all ages and ethnicity to celebrate togetherness in a holistic approach through personal development, platform initiatives, and community outreach.
OUR STORY 
Serving under the umbrella of Drakeford Productions, LLC, for the Miss Essence and Mrs. Essence National Pageant, NCVA Essence Pageant System was established on May 10, 2010.
The "Ultimate DREAM TEAM" is composed of individuals who have dynamic expertise in the fields of pageantry, leadership development, coaching, talent, production, marketing and communications. We are the official producers of the North Carolina and Virginia Essence State Pageants. We seek to fulfill titles in each state respectively for TEEN, Miss, Ms., Mrs. and Classic Mrs. by securing Local Titles at the preliminary level.
Therefore, contestants are selected at the local level and compete at the state pageant in early 2011 in each respective state.
We are committed to recognizing the true "essence" of the modern day woman. NCVA upholds the mission, vision and ongoing support of the national pageant.

ELIGIBILITY OVERVIEW
The NCVA Pageant System stands as the "exception" to pageantry. We accept applications from women of all ethnicity, women who have given birth, and even if you are divorced. Our system is designed to promote the "modern" woman of today's society.
ELIGIBILITY
Each delegate must be a naturally born, genetic female. Each delegate must be of good moral character having never committed a public act that is not consistent with the highest standards of moral integrity. She must not have appeared nude in print, film or live, or participated in any lewd or provocative public acts or behaviors. To be eligible for a NCVA Local Title, a delegate must meet at least one of the following criteria:

Own Property/Business
Employment in the state
Attend School

Miss 18-29 (Single)
Mrs. 18-40 (Married)

INFO APPLICATION PROCESS
Individuals may submit one application and select two titles in the event that their first choice has been designated to another applicant. Once the application is received, the applicant will be notified that the application was received and a telephone interview will be scheduled. Once the interview is complete, the applicant's profile will be reviewed by members of the Executive Staff for consideration of the title. The applicant will be notified if she is accepted or declined for any reason.

The Application Fee is $50.00. (No Application will be processed if not accompanied with payment.)
The Application allows you to apply for TWO Local Titles (1st Choice/2nd Choice) in the event that one has been selected. Applications will be reviewed on a daily basis.
ENTRY FEE
Payments can be made by debit/credit card only. Pay Pal is offered through our NCVA Payment Center.
The Entry Fee for each Local Titleholder is only $300.00 before February 10, 2012. (After February 10, 2012, the fee is $425.00.)

COMPETITION AREAS OF COMPETITION
Delegates are strongly encouraged to prepare for each category appropriately as it is specific to their competition category. Throughout the Pageant Experience, delegates will be coached and advised as how to prepare in each of these areas to include: Personal Interview, Swimsuit/Fitness, Evening Wear and On-Stage Question.
Personal Interview-30%
Personal interviews are conducted panel style, and are ten (10) minutes maximum.
* Attire: Dress, skirt suit, pantsuit, professional but comfortable, etc.
* Questions will be asked from the Delegate’s Profile Sheet and/or any topic of the judges’ choosing.
* Delegates will not be asked questions of a controversial nature. However, the interview may include questions about current
events and other timely topics.
* Judging Criteria: Personality, communication skills, character, image projection and fashion sense.
Swimsuit & Fitness-30%
* Swimsuits may be a one-piece or two-piece. (TEEN & Miss will compete in Swimsuit. Ms. and Mrs. will compete in Fitness Wear.)
* All swim wear must be in good taste. No thongs are allowed.
* Judging Criteria: Overall fitness and tone, proportion, confidence and figure, poise, eye contact, grace and fashion
sense.
Evening Gown-30%
* Gown should be floor length or full in length.
* Judging Criteria: Overall appearance, beauty, poise, stage presence, grace, fashion sense and delegate's ability to project
comfortable elegance.
On-Stage Question-10%
Each Finalist will be judged on how well she answers the question and communication skills. The judges will also consider there overall impression of the delegate.
Talent is OPTIONAL and has no bearing on the crown/title.
